Sophia Morel is the Director of Education & Employment Services at the Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services, (CASES) in New York City where she develops and oversees education and employment programs to support justice involved young people. CASES serves a population who have been impacted by the justice system at varying degrees from police contact, arrests, convictions, incarceration through re-entry. Her work with CASES began with a focus on education engagement specifically for the out-of-school population. She implemented programming that led to the expansion of CASES' academic services to include a full service HSE Preparation program, high school advocacy and a postsecondary program. Since then, Sophia and her team have built a robust menu of services offering both education and employment programming to young people ages 14-24. Sophia and her team are committed to being a resource to underserved populations in New York City. Sophia earned a Bachelor's degree in Communications from the State University of New York at Albany and a Masters of Education in Leadership in Community-Based Learning from Bank Street College of Education.
