Christina Crayton is the Assistant Director for Policy and Government Affairs and the Director for the Center for Child and Family Well-being at the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA). Christina provides strategic oversight and management of the association's Children and Families portfolio through policy and regulatory development and analysis; managing external partnerships; and by engaging APHSA members in developing and implementing strategies to build knowledge and connect leaders within and across the sector (including private providers, philanthropy, researchers). She has extensive experience in the field of public child welfare and has helped lead policy and practice changes through outreach, education and advocacy directly with Congress and administration officials. She serves as the child welfare subject matter expert for several national organizations, boards, and steering committees. Additionally, Christina leads and manages the National Association of Public Child Welfare Administrators (NAPCWA) and the National Association of State Child Care Administrators affiliates by advancing member priorities to improve and sustain overall well-being and early care and education. She also oversees APHSA's initiatives on unaccompanied children and refugees, class action lawsuits and consent decrees, and domestic trafficking and child welfare. Prior to joining APHSA, Christina worked as a Senior Research Associate with the National Association of Counties (NACO) focusing on leadership in local government and county human services and served as the Assistant Director, Mid-Atlantic Region for the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA). She received her Masters Degree in Social Work from Howard University and is active in a number of local community based organizations.
