Elizabeth Clary, a researcher at Mathematica Policy Research, specializes in implementation research and evaluating programs to help disadvantaged populations. Her research covers a wide range of policy areas affecting low-income families, including pregnancy prevention, food and nutrition, child support, workforce development, and the delivery of services and benefits. Ms. Clary is currently providing evaluation technical assistance to grantees in the Building Capacity to Evaluate Interventions for Youth/Young Adults with Child Welfare Involvement at Risk of Homelessness (YARH) project. This includes supporting individual grantees one-on-one to plan their evaluations, as well as giving presentations and engaging all grantees in peer learning experiences, and writing and leading issue briefs. She is also working on the Parents and Children Together (PACT) evaluation of responsible fatherhood programs, where she conducted in-depth, semi-structured interviews with low-income fathers and participated in the implementation evaluation of the programs. She recently worked on an evaluation of an initiative to increase access to Supplemental Security Income among homeless individuals with disabilities, as well as an evaluation of demonstration projects designed to increase access to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits among the elderly and working poor. Before joining Mathematica, Ms. Clary worked on an evaluation of youth well-being in Illinois' state foster care system and an evaluation of two local supportive housing programs funded by Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA). Ms. Clary holds a Master's degree in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago.
