Carter W. Patterson, CPM has worked in the social and human services sector for 20 years as an advocate, counselor, case manager, teacher, grassroots activist and business owner. The method to his unique professional development trajectory has been founded on key concepts of Relational - Cultural Theory. Functionally, within the breadth of his work experience and resource network, Carter brings forward individually remarkable ways to inform transformation, mitigate self/others and organizational conflicts, and promote peace-building. Through active participation empowering communities, the development of individuals and organizations, Carter has fostered a working understanding of clinical practices that include all of the major types of learning, teaching and assessing. Carter is a life-long learner who reads incessantly as the impetus to support his approach with the people and organizations he serves. This practice reinforces a deep introspection, that coupled with experience, allows distinct responses within clinical situations. Programmatically, Carter applies systemic action to help programs get to specific ends. He is a practitioner of interdependence and "gentle teaching," always seeking to positively affect the lives of others and create constructive memories in encounters and relationships with clients and stakeholders. Carter's interactions with advanced level scholars and researchers have helped him integrate these experiences into a series of successfully funded grant applications and service awards that highlight success in exceeding program deliverables resulting in progressively more responsible positions that rely heavily upon an administrative skill set. Taking part in research projects that include randomized trails and detailed process analysis; working in collaborative teams to gather the necessary information to protect the integrity of the research methodology; are also part of his varied skill constellation. Currently, as Program Manager at UIH Family Partners Carter manages collaborative efforts and fund development relationships, that have diversified organizational funding.
